Bonds, One Away From History
Like it or not folks, Barry Bonds just tied Hank Aaron for the all time home run record and he is just one away from moving into the top spot. Steroids or not, only death or catastrophic injury will deter Bonds from capturing this hallowed record. We just have to accept the fact that Barry Bonds is going to be the new home run champion.
I can’t say for certain if Barry Bonds is a juicer who cheated his way into the record books. He has never tested positive for steroids and all evidence against him is circumstantial. And even though it appears on the surface that he has used steroids, it is not beyond reasonable doubt that he bulked up and became more powerful through hard work, despite his advancing age.
Beyond Barry Bonds lies the bigger problem, the cronies who run major League Baseball. Everyone from the commissioner to the owners and the businesses that profit from the athletes. The bottom line is this, any sport could prevent the widespread use of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs by implementing a strict regimen of testing and serious punishments for offenders. But I just do not see that happening.
Baseball, football, cycling and other sports are seriously infected with this problem to the point that I do not recognize the term athlete anymore, these people are merely entertainers. The same as professional wrestlers. So why should anyone care about records or whether some dude on a team is juicing it up. We pay to see the performance, the drama and the train wrecks.
Let Barry Bonds enjoy his time in the spotlight, cheater or not, he deserves it. It is not his fault that professional sports is so dysfunctional.

I am a regular fucking genius when it comes to this sports stuff. Bonds is a great quarterback!
I’m going to the Giants game today and hoping Bonds hits one out, so this can all be over. Its annoying when Espn and every sport radio show discusses Barry Bonds’s chase to pass “Hammering” Hank. Once Bonds hits one more homer out of the park then hopefully people will stop taking about him and we can go on with the game of watching real Baseball.
I agree with that last comment. Let Bonds break the record so we can move on.
For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the driver said, “Look mate, don’t ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me!”
